/ OVERVIEW

The music video captures that millisecond moment where our three key agents battle with their own subconscious, triggered by a decisive moment during the heat of battle. Using metaphorical and surreal visual cues, we deep dive into the psyche of each agent. A glimpse into their personality, life and the moment they confront their greatest fears. Within their unique worlds, each agent has a shadowy, anonymous pro player, shepherding them through their subconscious.

The Line approached the action sequences with the studio’s signature 2D style while experimenting with different techniques and art directions in the surreal worlds to create bespoke experiences for each agent and pro player. The aesthetic is authentic and mature, with keenly-observed details and techniques whilst retaining an artful, hand-crafted look.

/ SUBCONSCIOUS

Brimstone

We wanted Brimstone to encounter the fog of war both metaphorically and quite literally. The world of endless fog and smoke symbolises BRIMSTONE’s vulnerability as it descends around him, clearing only when a vision is revealed. The environment is misty and dreamlike, casting bold silhouettes and creating a heightened sense of drama with grand cinematic touches.

/ BRIMSTONE

Our inspiration for BRIMSTONE’s world comes straight out of classic graphic novels. Strong hard shadows and dramatic lighting emphasise BRIMSTONE’s unshakeable strength of character. The bold reds and ochres that contrast with the greens and blues are used to create unsettling and arresting compositions.

Phoenix

Inside PHOENIX’s mind is an endless black void, somewhere in a galaxy. Vibrant hues come into his world when his mettle is put to the test.

Phoenix’s interior world is the cleanest and sharpest. But as the mood intensifies, the imagery draws inspiration from thermal imaging, with hot purples, yellows and reds that vibrate and distort the picture.

Sage

Sage’s world is the most ethereal space. Light, airy and fleeting; calm and serene. There’s an element of Mother Nature in the scene, with lush vegetation and blossoming flowers, that firmly roots her character and power as a natural healer. SAGE is pivotal to the survival of this paradise, as the world begins to melt she uses her powers to heal it.

The backgrounds in SAGE’s world are textured like the softness of coloured pencils. It feels delicate and diffuse; fluid and alive, as colours and shapes morph together in a dreamlike state.
